MAJOR Changes to Taobao: “Biggest Upgrade in 6 Years”
Taobao recently introduced three major upgrades & revisions to its homepage. According to Taobao, this is “the biggest revision in 6 years.”
These changes reveal Taobao’s HUGE aspirations for social + commerce.
Here’s a peek at the upgrades:
1 – “You may also like” featured on the main page
After the upgrade, consumers can see the “you may also like” section at first glance when opening the app. Merchants can choose the best way to publish according to their marketing strategies (video, graphic, etc.)
2 – Newly added centralized content platform: “Explore”
Explore aims to establish trust links through high-quality content. In the past, only consumers who followed your store & became your fans could see your content in private domains. However, Explore allows the content to be displayed in the public domain… just like RED, allowing access to potential consumers in a more natural way.
3 – “Weitao” upgraded to “Subscription”
Weitao was upgraded to Subscription on the homepage, placed alongside “Recommendation.” Users can simply swipe right to enter the Subscription page. Merchants can publish information about discounts & interact with consumers in the Subscription channel.
