A few “smart” people have tried to optimize listing prices real-time based on what's happening in the market. The idea was to automatically adjust your price to maximize revenue based on what AI &ML tells you.
Here's why this is a TERRIBLE idea in Tmall: Events.
Events make up a significant portion of total revenue in any Tmall store. These events require that you use a price that's X% lower than the lowest price you've sold at within the past 30 to 90 days.
If you're lined up for an event and Alibaba notices that you don't satisfy that price requirement, that's a red card for you. Even if you only broke that rule by mistake for a single order. You'll be kicked out of that event and most likely banned for at least a few more.
A very expensive mistake you DON’T want to make.
Take the time to set your OWN pricing. While it may not be as "smart" tech-wise, the assurance of event elligibility (and the revenues that go along with it) are well worth it.
